color and residence of said declarants in the alphabetical list to be fur-
nished by said Board of Registry under the provisions of Section 26 of
this Article.
And the intent of each person, so declaring before said Board of Reg-
istry, to become a resident of said State and County shall date from the
date of said entry of said Declaration by said Board. And no person com-
ing into said State and County from any other State, District or Territory
and making said Declaration before said Board of Registry shall be en-
titled to registration as a legal voter in said State and County until one
year after his intent to become such legal voter shall be thus evidenced by
such entry of said Declaration by said Board of Registry and such entry
or a duly certified copy thereof shall be the only competent and admissible
evidence of such intent. And said Certificate of Declaration of Intention
or a duly certified copy thereof shall be evidence of the right of such per-
sons to registration as legal voters according to law. This Act shall only
apply to Prince George's County.1

36. Nothing in section 30 shall be held to apply to persons in the diplo-
matic or consular service of the United States appointed from Maryland,
who at the time of their appointment are registered voters thereof, or to
secretaries and clerks, respectively, of the United States senators and rep-
resentatives in congress from Maryland for periods of service not longer
than the term of a United States senator or representative in congress,
who shall be at the time of their appointment residents and registered
voters of the said State.

37. The name of no voter upon the registration books of any precinct,
ward or election district of this State shall be stricken therefrom during his
absence in the military or naval service of the United States.

38. Whenever any new general registration is held in any of the coun-
ties or Baltimore City, it shall be the duty of the several Boards of Reg-
istry to ascertain from every possible source the names of duly registered
voters of this State absent in the military or naval service of the United
States. The names of such persons shall be entered upon the new registra-
tion books by the several Boards of Registry with the same entries appear-
ing upon the registration books as last prepared or revised. In the space
where the voter is required to sign his name, the Board of Registry shall
write the words " Re-entered During Military Service," with the date of
such re-entry. The several Boards of Supervisors of Elections shall fur-
nish to the several Boards of Registry the registration books as last pre-
pared or revised for their precincts, wards or election districts, for the
