Definitions.
1916, ch. 209, sec. 1.
1. The word "film" used in this Article means what is usually
known as a motion picture film. The word "view" in this Article
means what is usually known as a stereopticon view or slide, but is not
to include legitimate advertising announcements or news bulletins. The
word "person" includes an association, co-partnership or a corporation.
Use of Films, Reels or Views Prohibited.
1916. ch. 209, sec. 2.
2. It shall be unlawful to sell, lease, lend, exhibit, or use any motion
picture film, reel or view, in the State of Maryland, unless the said
film, reel or view has been submitted by the exchange, owner or lessee
of the film, reel, or view and duly approved by the Maryland State
Board of Censors, hereinafter in this Article called the Board.
Section 23 of the act of 1916, chapter 209, provides that the several sections
and provisions of said act are independent of each other, and that it is the legis-
lative intent that if any of said sections or provisions are declared unconstitu-
tional, other portions of the act shall not be thereby affected.

As to moving picture machine operators in Baltimore City, etc., see act of
1912, chapter 814. and act of 1918, chapter 195.
