those herein excepted and to provide for all other cases not covered by
said Section 11.

71. Any person who shall secrete, sell, dispose of, offer for sale,
purchase, retain after demand by a commissioned officer of the Mary-
land National Guard, or in any manner pawn or pledge any arms, uni-
forms, equipments or other military property issued under the provisions
of this article, and any person who shall wear any uniform or device,
strap, knot or insignia of any design or character used as a designation of
grade, rank or office, such as are by law or general regulations duly pro-
mulgated and prescribed for the use of the active militia or similar there-
to, except members of the Army or Navy of the United States and the
National Guard of this or any other States, officers of the independent
miltary organizations as designated in this Article, members of associa-
tions wholly composed of soldiers honorably discharged from the service
of the United States and members of the Confederate Veterans or like
societies, shall be guilty of a misdemeanor, and upon conviction thereof
before a justice of the peace having criminal jurisdiction of the city or
•county wherein such offence was committed, or by the Circuit Court of
the county wherein such offence was committed, or the Criminal Court
of Baltimore City, should the accused party prefer a jury trial, shall
be fined not less than twenty nor more than fifty dollars for each and
every offence, and in default of the payment of the fine and costs shall
be committed to the jail of the county or city, as the case may be, until
such fine and costs are paid, provided that said term of imprisonment
shall not exceed thirty days for each offence; such fines shall be paid
to the Adjutant General of the State, who shall apply the same to the
use of the active militia.

72. Any member of the Maryland National Guard who shall wil-
fully and unlawfully misapply or convert to his own use any money or
other property belonging to said National Guard or any organization
thereof, or who shall, when lawfully called upon to do so by the proper
officer of the said Guard, fail or refuse to pay or deliver to said officer
my money or property in his possession, or for which the said member
was chargeable or accountable, shall be guilty of a misdemeanor, and
upon conviction thereof before a court of competent jurisdiction, shall
be fined a sum not exceeding five hundred dollars, or sentenced to
imprisonment in jail for a period not exceeding one year, or he shall be
hoth fined or imprisoned, in the discretion of the court.

73. No person belonging to the Maryland National Guard shall be
arrested on any process except such as may be issued by military author-
