each of said Wardens, subsistence, fuel and a dwelling in some part of
the institution under his charge, but said Wardens shall receive no other
compensation or perquisite. The said Wardens shall each for the
respective institutionsi employ, with the approval of said Board, who
shall fix their compensations, a physician and such other employees as
may to said Board seem necessary for the proper management of said
institutions. The said Wardens and all persons employed by them, or
any of them, shall perform their employment only during the pleasure
of said Board, and shall as employees have such duties and authority
as may from time to time be imposed and conferred upon them or any
of them by said Board. The salaries, compensation and necessary
expenses of said Wardens and of all persons employed by them, or any
of them, shall be payable as hereafter prescribed.

635. Every Warden, or other employee connected with any of said
institutions, shall in the discretion of the said Board of Prison Control,
be required to execute a bond to the State, with security to be approved
by the said Board and in no manner connected with any of said insti-
tutions, and in such sum. as the said Board may deem proper, condi-
tioned for the faithful performance of the duties required of them
respectively by the laws of this State and the rules and regulations
that may be adopted from time to time by the said State Board of
Prison Control; and the said bond shall be filed in the Executive
Department of the State and a certified copy thereof, under the seal
of the State, shall be evidence in actions upon said bond, and the
said Board shall be authorized in the name of the State and for the
use of said Board, to institute suit on said bond for any breach
thereof. If any of the persons aforesaid shall neglect to execute a
bond as herein prescribed within twenty days after having been directed
so to do by the said Board the said delinquent shall be dismissed from'
his employment.

636. The said Board shall have full power and authority to make,
repeal, alter or amend such rules and regulations, not inconsistent with
law, for the maintenance, discipline and conduct of institutions, pris-
oners, officials and employees, by this sub-title placed under its super-
vision or control, as may be necessary and convenient for the proper
administration of the power, authority and discretion conferred upon it
by this sub-title. Every member of said Board, and every employee
thereof, and every Warden, and other employees connected with any of
said institutions, shall perform and discharge the duties that may be
assigned to him by law or by the rules and regulations of said Board,
not inconsistent with law; and, if any of the persons aforesaid, after
having accepted his office or employment, shall omit or refuse to dis-
charge any such duty, or shall otherwise violate any of the provisions
