8. It shall also be the duty of the governor, promptly, before deliver-
ing to the public printer the certified copies of the several acts
required by the preceding section to be delivered to said public printer,
to cause the said certified copies to be compiled, classified and indexed
by a competent person, to be appointed by him for that purpose, into
three classes: first, as public general laws; second, as public local laws,
and third, as private acts; the pubic general laws to be arranged under
their appropriate articles in the alphabetical order of said articles, as
they are now printed in the code of 1904; the public local laws of the
several counties and of the city of Baltimore to be arranged and printed
in the alphabetical order of the counties and the city of Baltimore, as
they are now printed in the Code of Public Local Laws of 1888, and the
private acts in the order of their passage, preserving as to all of said pub-
lic general laws, public local laws and private acts their several chapter
numbers and the date of their approval. And promptly, upon receipt of
such certified copies of said laws, so compiled, classified and indexed, it
shall be the duty of the public printer to print the same as provided by
his contract, and to deliver the same, when printed, as provided by his
contract, and as and for the compensation of the person to be appointed
by the governor under this section, for such compilation, classification
and indexing and for the work necessary to be done under section 7 of
this article, the sum of fifteen hundred dollars is hereby appropriated,
and the comptroller is hereby directed to draw his warrant upon the
treasurer in favor of the person so appointed by the governor, upon a
warrant to be drawn by the governor upon the comptroller, when* the
completion of such work of compilation, classification and indexing
1910, ch. 698 (p. 234).
9. On and after April 11, 1910, the "public printer" shall cause to be
affixed to all public printing provided for in this title the union label
recognized by the organization known as the international typographical
union.
