PHILLIPS LEE GOLDSBOROUGH, ESQ., GOVERNOR. 875

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That it shall be unlawful after the passage of this act
for any person or persons to take or catch oysters in any man-
ner whatever in any of the waters of the Patuxent River and
its tributaries of Calvert, Charles and St. Mary's counties
between the first day of April and the fifteenth day of Septem-
ber in each year. Provided, however, that nothing in this act
shall be so construed as to prevent any person or persons from
removing or transplanting oysters on private beds or taking
oysters from private beds for private use during the closed sea-
son, but not for sale.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That any person or per-
sons violating any of the provisions of this act shall be sub-
ject to the same penalties and dealt with in the same manner
as provided for in the General Oyster Law of the State for
taking or catching oysters during the closed season or without
license.

SEC. 3. And be it further enacted, That all acts or parts of
acts, local or general, inconsistent with this act are hereby
repealed, and that this act shall take effect from the date of its

CHAPTER 604.

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact with amendments certain sec-
tions of the Code of Public Local Laws, Article 6, title
"Caroline County," sub-title "Denton."

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That sections 81, 82, 86, 91, 93 and 94 of Article B,
title "Caroline County," sub-title "Denton," of the Code of
Public Local Laws of Maryland be and the same are hereby
repealed and re-enacted so as to read as follows:

81. They shall meet at such place as they may appoint
within said town on the second Monday of every month ensu-
ing their election and as much oftener as they shall deem
necessary.

82. That the said commissioners shall elect a president of
their board and appoint a clerk, a bailiff, a treasurer, one or
more assessors of taxes, and one or more policemen. The said
clerk and treasurer may be the same person.

86. The treasurer shall be appointed from among the citi-
zens of said town qualified to vote for the commissioners and
