ing all tramps and vagrants; and they shall pass all ordinances
necessary from time to time to carry out and enforce the fore-
going provisions, and give full force and effect to the power
and authority conferred on said corporation; and they may
enforce such ordinance by reasonable fines and penalties not
exceeding twenty-five dollars in any one case, as may appear
to them right; they may recover said fine or penalty by an
action of "Debt," and in addition thereto may imprison the
offender until the fine be paid, not exceeding thirty days, such
imprisonment to be in the town lookup if one be provided, or
in the county jail, and the Sheriff of Prince George's county
shall receive and confine any person so committed.
SEC. 21. And they may pass such ordinances as shall be
necessary and proper for the preservation of the health of
the town, and remove all nuisances from and prohibit all busi-
ness within the corporate limits, as shall in their opinion
injuriously affect the sanitary conditions thereof.
SEC. 22. They may provide for levying and collecting annu-
ally a tax of one dollar on each dog and two dollars on each
bitch, and for the killing of each dog and bitch whose owner
shall refuse to pay the said tax within the time set by the
Council, and upon payment of said license fee an identifica-
tion tag shall be provided by said Mayor and Common Council.
SEC. 23. All sidewalks on any of the streets of said town
shall not be less than four feet in width, and of such material
as the Mayor and Common Council may direct, and said Mayor
and Common Council may assess upon the land abutting said
sidewalk two-thirds of the cost of construction thereof, which
assessment shall be a lien upon such abutting property, and
bt recovered from the owners of such abutting property in
the name of the corporation as others of like amount are recov-
erable in this State by law.
SEC. 24. And they shall by ordinance provide for the codi-
fication of all ordinances which have been or may be passed,
and for the printing of such codifications therefor, and the
printed ordinances so issued by the authority of the Mayor
and Common Council may be read in evidence from the printed
codification.
SEC. 25. They may provide for and take care of all per-
sons suffering from accident, sickness or physical or mental
infirmity and who are unable to take care of themselves, and
if deemed necessary may send them to the almshouse of Prince
George's county, in which case all expenses so incurred shall
be repaid to the Mayor and Common Council of the town "by
