WHEREAS, No agriculture high school has been establish in
Caroline or the adjoining counties of Maryland wherein boys
may be prepared for the duties and demands of country life;
and,
WHEREAS it is the purpose in establishing said school to bring
the results of the scientific work of the experiment station
of the Maryland Agricultural College nearer the homes of
our farmers, thus extending the important work of said col-
lege to the outlying agricultural districts of the State; and
WHEREAS, House Bill No. 104 now on its passage through the
Senate, makes provision for the entire cost of not less than
fifteen thousand ($15,000) dollars for the school building
and its necessary equipment, one-half of which amount the
citizens of Ridgely and its vicinity have agreed to provide by
local taxation, and the other half by the County Commis-
sioners of said county; all of which will appear by reference
to said bill; therefore,
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That the sum of five thousand dollars ($5,000) or so much
thereof as may be necessary, be and the same is hereby appro-
priated out of any funds in the treasury not otherwise appro-
priated, the same to be expended by the Board of County School
Commissioners of Caroline County for the purchase of a lot
of ground not to contain less than ten (10) acres, situated at
or near Ridgely, in said county, and in fully equipping the
same for the purpose of scientific and practical agricultural
experimentation and development, and on which lot of ground
said Caroline County Agricultural High School Building shall
be erected, and be built of brick, and the said sum of money
to be paid to the said Board of County School Commissioners
by the Treasurer of the State upon the warrant of the Comp-
troller on or before the fifteenth day of October, in the year
1912.
SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That the sum of $5,000 be and
the same is hereby appropriated out of any funds in the Treas-
ury not otherwise appropriated, to be expended by the Board
of County School Commissioners of Caroline County for the
erection of a high school building in Federalsburg and the said
amount shall be paid over to the Board of County School Com-
missioners of Caroline County by the Treasurer of the State
upon the warrant of the Comptroller.
