tion thereof shall be fined five dollars and costs for each and
every offense and in default thereof shall be committed to the
county jail for not less than two days nor more than thirty days.

SEC. 17L, And be it further enacted, That no person shall
shoot, hunt, take, catch, kill, pursue, injure or have in possession .
in Baltimore county any raccoon or possum from February
twenty-eighth to October first, exclusive of both dates, or when
the ground is covered with snow so as they can be tracked.

SEC. 17M. And be it further enacted, That no person or
persons shall set any trap, deadfall, pitfall, snare, steel trap
or other device for the taking or trapping of wild animals
between the twentieth day of December and the tenth day of
November, inclusive of both dates; provided, however, that the
Chief Game Warden of Baltimore county may issue to any j
person or, persons applying for the same a permit to set noy
more than ten traps, deadfalls, pitfalls, snares, steel traps or
other devices for the purpose of taking, trapping or catching
minks, weasels, polecat, skunk, raccoon, fox, muskrat or pos-
sum, which permit may be revoked at any time by the said
Chief Game Warden of Baltimore county in his discretion.

SEC. 17N. And be it further enacted, That nothing in this
act shall be construed to in anywise prevent the Chief Game
Warden of Baltimore county, the deputy game warden, or any
other person or persons from having the birds and game
mentioned in this act in their possession during the closed sea-
son, for purposes of propagation, provided such person or per-
sons shall first have secured from the Chief Game Warden of
Baltimore county a written permission so to do.

SEC. 17 O. And be it further enacted, That it shall be
unlawful for any person or persons to shoot, kill, trap, take,
destroy, or have in possession more than ten partridges or quail,
two pheasants or ruffed grouse, one English pheasant, one ring-
necked pheasant, ten doves, eight woodcocks, twelve jack snipes,
six rabbits, one jack rabbit, eight squirrels, one wild turkey
in any one day, and it shall be unlawful for any person to shoot,
kill, take, destroy or have in possession more than fifty rail
birds per tide. Any person violating the provisions of this sec-
tion shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor and upon con-
viction thereof shall be fined five dollars and costs for each bird
or animal so killed, shot, destroyed, taken or had in possession
in excess of the prescribed limits.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this act shall take
effect from the date of its passage.
