bling, and such tables shall be deemed gaming tables for the
purposes of this article; and the person so keeping such table
shall be liable to the penalty or penalties prescribed by the
Public General Laws for keeping a gaming table or other place
of gaining or permitting gambling on his or her premises.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That no pending prose-
cution for a violation of the section hereby repealed and
re-enacted shall be in any way affected by the passage of this
Act, but for the purposes of said prosecution the said section
shall be construed to be in full force and effect as if this act
had not been passed.

SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That this act shall take effect
from May 1, 1912.

CHAPTER 68.

AN ACT to add a new section to Article 56 of the Code of
1904 of the Public General Laws of Maryland, title
"Licenses" sub-title "Motor Vehicles," as amended by Chap-
ter 207 of the Acts of 1910, to follow section 131 and be
known as section 131 A, providing for the appointment of a
motor vehicle agent at a salary of fifteen hundred dollars,
who shall maintain an office at Washington, District of
Columbia.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That a new section be added to Article 56 of the Code of
1904 of the Public General Laws of Maryland, title "Licenses,"
sub-title "Motor Vehicles," as amended by Chapter 207 of the
Acts of 1910, to follow section 131 and, to be known as section
131A, to read and be as follows:

131A. The commissioner of motor vehicles shall appoint a
motor vehicle agent who shall be a registered voter and resident
of the State of Maryland at a salary of fifteen hundred dollars
per annum, payable monthly, out of the funds collected by said
commissioner, who shall issue licenses and perform such duties
as may be assigned to him by said commissioner and who shall
maintain an office at the City of Washington, District of
Columbia, at his own expense, said agent shall make no further
charge against the State nor the public nor receive any further
pay or emoluments in connection with or growing out of the
duties of his office, and lie shall in no way engage in the motor
