PHILLIPS LEE GOLDSBOROUGH, GOVERNOR. 121

CHAPTER 66.

AN ACT to authorize the County Commissioners of Frederick
County to borrow money on the credit of said county for the
purpose of building and improving the public roads and high-
ways within said county, and to issue bonds therefor, and
levy on the assessable property in Frederick county an annual
tax sufficient to pay said bonds when they mature and to pay
the interest thereon as it becomes due.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary
land, That for the purpose of building and improving public
roads and highways within said county the County Commis-
sioners of Frederick County, or a majority of said commission-
ers, be and they are hereby authorized to borrow money on the
credit of the county to an amount not exceeding the sum of
.$75,000.00, and to issue bonds therefor, under the corporate
seal of the said County Commissioners, to be signed by the
President of the Board of County Commissioners and counter-
signed by the clerk thereof, in denominations of $500.00 each,
bearing interest from date of issue thereof at the rate of four
and one-half (4 1/2) per centum per annum; and said' bonds
shall have written or printed on them a distinct reference to the
act directing the issue of same, and said bonds when issued
shall be exempt from municipal and county taxation in Fred-
erick county; provided, a majority of the duly qualified voters
of Frederick county shall at the election to be held in said
county on the first Tuesday after the first Monday in November,
1912, declare in favor of the issue of said bonds in the manner
provided in this act.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That before the issuance of said
bonds the question of the issuance of said bonds shall be sub-
mitted to a vote of the duly registered voters of Frederick
county at the election to.be held in said county on the first
Tuesday after the first Monday in November, 1912; and the
supervisors of said election in said county shall furnish the
necessary ballots for said election and shall have printed upon
the face of said ballots a distinct reference of this act, and
upon said ballots shall be printed these words with a suitable
square to the right of each:

FOR ROAD BONDS
AGAINST ROAD BONDS

SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That if a majority of the voters
of Frederick county at said election declare in favor of issuing
