PHILLIPS LEE GOLDSBOROUGH, GOVERNOR. 115

CHAPTER 58.

AN ACT to repeal section 225 of Article 81 of the Code of
Public General Laws of Maryland, title "Revenue and
Taxes," sub-title "State Auditor," and to re-enact the same
with amendments.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That section 225 of Article 81 of the Code of Pub-
lic General Laws of Maryland, title "Revenue and Taxes,"
sub-title "State Auditor," be and the same is hereby repealed
and re-enacted, so as to read as follows:

225. There shall be in the Treasury Department a State
Auditor, to be appointed by the Governor, comptroller and
treasurer, or a majority of them who shall take the oath pre-
scribed by the Constitution, and shall hold his office for two
years from the date of his qualification, and until the appoint-
ment and qualification of his successor, and shall receive a
salary of two thousand dollars ($2,000.00) per annum, payable
monthly, and such expenses (not exceeding one thousand dol-
lars ($1,000.00) in any one year) as may be audited by the
comptroller, who shall issue his warrants for the monthly pay-
ments of the salary, and for such an amount of expenses as
said comptroller shall allow. He shall give a bond to the State
of Maryland in the penalty of twenty-five hundred dollars
($2,500.00), conditioned for the faithful performance of his
duties, with surety to be approved by the comptroller.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this act shall take
effect from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 59.

AN ACT to amend Chapter 123 of the Laws of the General
Assembly of Maryland of 1898, entitled "An Act to repeal
Article 4, sub-title 'City of Baltimore,' of the Code of Public
Local Laws of Maryland, and the several acts and parts of
acts amendatory thereof, and to re-enact said Article 4 with
amendments under two sub-titles, known as 'Charter and Mis-
cellaneous Local Laws," by adding a new section thereto
relating to the employment and compensation of charwomen
at the several station houses in the City of Baltimore, said
