event of any such vacancy or vacancies occurring thereafter
by death, the same may be filled as other vacancies, and the
Supervisors of Election shall cause to be printed a sufficient
number of stickers bearing the name or names of such sub-
stituted nominee or nominees and shall also cause the same to be
affixed in the proper place or places on each ticket before it is
given to the voter. And no names shall be printed on the offi-
cial ballot not presented to said .Board of Election Supervisors
in the manner herein provided.

SEC. 198. The said Board of Election Supervisors shall
prepare the ballot to be voted at the elections for Mayor and
City Councilmen, as well as any ballot to be voted at any gen-
eral or special election submitting any question or proposition
to the people, placing on the ballots only the names of all per-
sons properly nominated for Mayor and City Councilmen, as
provided in the preceding section, arranging them alphabetic-
ally and without emblems or other distinguishing marks or
signs, after which shall be placed any proposition to be sub-
mitted to vote of the people, and all of said names of candi-
dates and propositions shall be in a single vertical column; and
they shall cause the names of all the candidates for the same
office grouped together, with space between each group wherein
the voter may write additional name or names if he so desires.
The official ballot shall be substantial, plain white paper, not
less than four nor more than six inches wide, and there shall
be a square at the right of the name of each candidate, and to
vote for any candidate or candidates the voter shall make a
cross (X) mark in the square opposite the name of each candi-
date for whom he may desire to vote, but he shall not vote for
more candidates than there are offices to be filled, and the said
official ballot shall be printed as near as practicable in accord-
ance with the following sample, the date and names to be
changed:

For Municipal Election, January O, 1912.
Put a cross (X) mark opposite the name or names voted for.

For Mayor.

Vote for one only.
