SEC. 270M. The city register shall give ten days' notice of
the time and place of registration and of revision thereof, and
of election in each precinct of said city by handbills set up in
the most public places in such precincts, and also by advertise-
ment in two newspapers of general circulation therein, said
register shall make all necessary rules and regulations not
inconsistent with this article, with reference to the registration
of voters and the conduct of elections and he stall have charge
of, and make provisions for all elections, general or special,
to be held in said city.
SEC. 270O. The city register shall furnish to each board of
registry, for the purpose of such registration, two registry
books, which it shall be the duty of said officers of registration
to protect and keep safe, each of whom shall be cnarged with
the custody of one of said books during the intervals between
the sessions of the board of registry until the return of said
books to the city register, as hereinafter provided. Such reg-
istry book shall be prepared substantially in the following
