112 THIRD REGIMENT INFANTRY.

After the surrender of Lee's Army at Appomattox. the 3d Regiment, Veteran Battal-
ion, proceeded to Arlington Heights, Va., where it was mustered out of the military ser-
vice of the United States July 31, 1865.

In addition to the numerous skirmishes and engagements in which the 3d Reg-
iment of Infantry participated, the following comprises the official battle list promul-
gated by the War Department, U. S. Army, viz.: Cedar Mountain, Antietam, Chan-
cellorsville, Gettysburg, Wilderness, Spottsylvania, North Anna, Cold Harbor, Peters-
burg, Poplar Spring Church.
