Section 5. And be it enacted, That the sum of fifteen thousand dollars, or so much thereof as may be neces-
sary, be, and the same is hereby appropriated, out of any money, in the Treasury, not otherwise
appropriated, to pay for the provisions of this Act; and. the Comptroller of the State, upon
proper vouchers approved by the said Commissioners or a majority of them, shall, from time to
time, draw his warrants upon the State Treasurer for the amounts necessary to pay for cler-
ical aid, for stationery, and for deposit with the War and Navy Departments at Washington, a
guarantee fund, as provided for in Section 2 of this Act, and also to pay for the printing, binding
and distributing of the copies of said records, as provided for in Section 4 of this Act.
Section 0. And be it enacted, That the necessary expenses incurred by the said Commissioners in carrying out
the provisions of this Act, not to exceed the sum of one thousand dollars, shall be paid out of
the said appropriated sum of fifteen thousand dollars, and the paid Comptroller is authorized
to draw his warrants upon the State Treasurer therefor, upon receiving an itemized account of
such expenses, verified by the affidavit of the said Commissioners, or any one of them.
Section 7. And be it enacted. That this Act shall take effect from the date of its passage.

AN ACT TO AMEND CHAPTER 134. OF THE PUBLIC GENERAL LAWS OF MARYLAND, ACTS OF 1896, BY
MAKING AN ADDITIONAL APPROPRIATION TO COMPLETE THE PUBLICATION OF THE REC-
ORDS AND HISTORIES OF THE MARYLAND SOLDIERS, SAILORS AND MARINES. WHO FOUGHT
FOR THE PRESERVATION OF THE FEDERAL UNION. 1861-65.
Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland, That the sum of thirty-five hundred dollars, or
so much thereof as may be found necessary, be and the same is, hereby appropriated out of
any money in the Treasury of Maryland, not otherwise appropriated, for the completion of the
Records and Histories of the Maryland Soldiers, Sailors and Marines, who fought for the preser-
vation of the Federal Union, 1861-65.
Section 2. That the appropriation authorized by this .Act shall be divided as follows, viz: The sum of three
thousand dollars shall be available, under Section 3, and the sum of five hundred dollars shall be
available under the provisions of Section C, of the original Act, of which this is an amendment.
Section :3. That this Act shall take effect from the date of its passage.

AN ACT AUTHORIZING THE PUBLICATION OF ONE THOUSAND ADDITIONAL COPIES OF THE RECORDS
AND HISTORIES OF THE MARYLAND SOLDIERS. SAILORS AND MARINES, WHO FOUGHT FOR
THE PRESERVATION OF THE FEDERAL UNION. 1861-65, AND TO PROVIDE FOR THE DISTRIBU-
TION THEREOF.
Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland. That the Commission appointed under the pro-
visions of Chapter 184, of the Public General Laws of Maryland, Acts of 1896, be, and they
are, hereby authorized and directed to have printed and published, at a cost not to exceed the
present contract price per volume, one thousand additional copies of the Records and Histories
of the Maryland Soldiers, Sailors and Marines, who fought for the preservation of the Federal
Union, 1861-63.
Section 2. That the additional copies hereby authorized shall be distributed to the survivors of the Civil War
of creditable record or their descendants, and one copy therefor to each and every member of
the General Assembly of Maryland, and said distribution shall be made by the State Com-
missioners, appointed under the provisions of Act of 3896, Laws of Maryland, Chapter 13-4, with
the utmost discretion, after careful investigation of the merits of the applicants therefor.
Section 3. That the sum of four thousand dollars, or as much thereof as may be necessary, is hereby appro-
priated out of any money in the Treasury not otherwise appropriated, to carry out the pro-
visions of this Act.
Section 4. That this Act shall take effect from the date of its passage.
