More Landmarks of Success

Aside from a 15-year award-winning streak in GFOA annals
and a oil-year tradition in accurate revenue forecasting, the Maryland
State Comptroller s Office celebrates a host of other achievements
among its co-workers and operations, including the following mile-

stones;

Longest

serving business tax
collector. Dotty
MLorawski in the
Compliance
Division began her
career as a collector

in the

Comptrollers

Office when she

joined the former

Retail Sales Tax

Division on Janu-
ary 7, 1959.
Longest

serving division director. George H. Spriggs, Jr., director of the Rev-
enue Administration Division, was appointed director of the former
Income Tax Division on May 15, 1975.

Longest serving co-worker. Christine Samaras in the Compli-
ance Division first joined the Comptrollers Office on February 1,

1954.

Longest record in perfect attendance. Warren Foxwell in the
Data Processing Division has accumulated 27 years of perfect atten-
dance.

Mlost enduring agency record. The Central Payroll Bureau has
never missed a state payroll since the function began in 1954. That's
more than 900 paydays.

Longest serving statewide elected official in Maryland history,
State Comptroller Louis L. Goldstein. As most Marylanders know,
he was first elected in 1958 and has Ikeen re-elected ever since. O
