I herewith submit the following report of the License Inspectors of the State of Maryland for
the fiscal year beginning October 1st, 1942, and ending June 30th, 1943.
This report covers the activities of the department for the period of nine months from October
1,1942, to June 30,1943, conforming with the change in the fiscal year made by the General Assembly
at the 1943 Session. The inspection work which will be done in the months of July, August, and
September, 1943, will show next year in the report to be made for the year beginning July 1, 1943, and
ending June 30, 1944. The change in the fiscal year at this time does not give us an opportunity to
make a comparison of the results obtained, by comparing the work covered by this report with the
work covered by the report for the fiscal year ended September 80, 1942. However, subsequent re-
ports will be for the year ending June 30th and it will be possible to make a comparison by years, as
in the past.
The inspection of licenses over the State of Maryland for the year 1942-43 (to June 30, 1943),
resulted in the receipt of $23,12".26 additional fees and penalties into the State Treasury. Of this
amount $14,688.40 was collected in Baltimore City, which included penalty of $2,002.48. In the
counties $8,436.86 was collected, which included penalty of $2,117.36. The total amount of penalty
collected over the State for this period was $",119.79.
The following is a list of the different kinds of licenses found to be necessary by the State License
Inspectors in Baltimore City and the counties, and which had not been secured:
