Honorable Sir:
I herewith submit the following report of the License Inspectors of the State of Maryland for the
fiscal year beginning October 1st, 1939, and ending September 30th, 1940.
The total result of the inspection of licenses over the State, of Maryland for the year 1939-1940
amounted to $58,901.83. Of this amount, $21,264.55 was collected in Baltimore City, which included
a penalty of $3,829.36. In the counties $37,637.28 was collected, which included a penalty of $6,308.45, .
and the total amount of penalty collected over the State was $10,137.81.
Every county in the State has been visited by an Inspector during the past fiscal year, and we
find the license situation in Baltimore City and the Counties in splendid condition, the receipts being
well ahead of the last fiscal year.
The following is a list of the different kinds of licenses found to be necessary by the State License
Inspectors in Baltimore City and Counties, and which had not been secured:

Carnivals, Cash Registers and Adding Machines, Check Rooms, Circus, Commercial, Mercantile and
Protective Agencies, Hawkers and Peddlers, Junk Dealers, Livery Stables, Non-Resident Whole-
sale Tobacco Dealers, Pawnbrokers, Shoe Shining Parlors and Hat Cleaning Establishments, Shows,
Stevedores, Storage Warehouses, Theatre, Trading Stamp Companies, Typewriting Machines, Whole-
sale Dealers in Farm Machinery, Florists, and Hard Fuel Registration.
The Real Estate Brokers Licenses are now issued and supervised by the REAL ESTATE COM-
MISSION OF MARYLAND.
