REPORT

FOR THE

Comptroller of the Treasury

OF THE

State of Maryland

December 15, 1922.
To His Excellency,

ALBERT C. RITCIIIE,

Governor of Maryland :

Section 9 of Article XTX of the Annotated Code of Mary-
land requires me to submit a statement of the financial affairs
of this State, and in accordance therewith I herewith present
my report for the fiscal year ended September 30th, 1922.

The License Inspector, as authorized by Chapter 516 of the
Acts of 1922, has been appointed and is now officially at
work, and the results of his efforts are proving entirely satis-
factory.

I beg to gay that this office is making its plans to assume
January 1st, 1923, the duties assigned to it under the Reor-
ganization Act.

In closing please permit me to call your attention to the
fact that in my opinion the facilities for safekeeping the
records of this office are entirely inadequate, and T urgently
recommend the construction of a proper vault as a part of this
office for the use of filing valuable records in an absolutely
safe manner.

Respectfully submitted,

WM. S. GORDY, JR.,

Comptroller.
