THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF MARYLAND:
In pursuance of Section 9 of Article 19 of the Annotated
Code of Maryland, requiring that T submit a statement of the
financial affairs of this State, I hereby respectfully present my
Report for the fiscal year ending September 30th, 1917.
RECEIPTS AND DISBURSEMENTS.
In Statement "A" will be found the total receipts for the
year, as $11,676,471.43, to which must be added the cash balance
on hand October 1st, 1916, of $1,624,095.23, aggregating $13,-
300,566.66. Statement "B" for a like period shows disburse-
ments of $11,450,662.22, with a ca'sh balance in the Treasury
proper of $1,849,904.44, to which must be added the balance to
credit of the Funds account of $423,715.17, or a total cash bal-
ance in banks September 30th of $2,273,619.61. A perusal of
these two Statements will be found most interesting and in-
structive, as each are set forth in detail, but I especially desire
to call your attention to the Summary at the end of Statement
"B," wherein is shown at a glance the operations of the Treas-
ury for the year, including not only the cash balance in Banks,
