I wish to express my appreciation of the valuable services
which Mr. Harry J. Hopkins, my Chief Clerk, has rendered.
His entire familiarity with the details of the office and his
comprehension of the broad scope of the work make his services
of the highest importance, both to the Comptroller and to those
who have business with this office.

I extend thanks to all the clerks in my office for their faith-
fulness and efficiency, and to the Hon. Murray Vandiver, State
Treasurer, for his many acts of courtesy in our official relations.
