To His Excellency, Austin L. Crothers, Governor of Maryland:
I have the pleasure of submitting to you, in pursuance of
Section 9 of Article 19 of the Code of Public General Laws, my
annual report, exhibiting in detail a statement of the funds and
revenues of the State for the fiscal year ended September 30th,
1908.
RECEIPTS.
The gross receipts during the fiscal year, as shown in state-
ment "A," were $4,513,255.07, which, added to the balance
on hand September 30, 1907, of $1,364,881.24, aggregate
$5,878,136.31 as the total gross receipts, including balances of
the Treasury proper, as against $5,504,744.26 for the year
previous. The receipts proper, however, show an increase of
$538,023.89, mainly from two sources, viz: High Liquor
Licenses from Baltimore City, $405,832.82 and from the sale
of Bonds—Good Roads, $100,000. During the fiscal year
1907, the State received from High Liquor Licenses the sum
of $597,951.77, paying back to Baltimore City the sum of
