from the sale of these bonds were covered into the Treasury, be-
ing specifically dedicated to the purposes for which they were
issued. Of the original issue of $500,000 for the "State Building
and Improvement Loan," there remained at the close of the fiscal
year to the credit of the "State Building at Annapolis," which is
now nearing completion, the sum of $162,456.20. The credit to
the two bond issues, as of September 30, 1902, is as follows :

Heating Plant at Annapolis.............................. 134,027.56

These funds have been largely drawn upon since the close of the
fiscal year, and will continue to be, as the work upon the various
buildings progresses.

Inasmuch as the State in the past few years has expended large
sums of money upon its institutions, the following table, show-
ing such institutions with amounts received by each since 1896,
aggregating $3,000,000, may be worthy of perusal.
