V REPORT OF THE COMPTROLLER OF THE TREASURY.

in the aggregate to $2,446,609.36, being less than the dis-
bursements of the previous fiscal year by $619,223.66, and
there remained in the Treasury at the close of the fiscal year
ended Sept. 30th, 1893, the sum of $569,650.58. "Statement
B," of this Report exhibits in detail the various purposes for
which these disbursements were made and the Acts of Assem-
bly authorizing the same.

ESTIMATES.

The probable receipts into the Treasury during the cur-
rent fiscal year as estimated in "Statement C," are $2,550,-
859.90, which if realized and added to the balance in the
Treasury on the 30th day of September last, would make the
total amount in the Treasury for the fiscal year 1894, applicable
to ordinary purposes, the sum of $3,119,910.48. The estimated
disbursements during the same period are $2,420,502.30, as
shown in ''Statement D.''

FREE SCHOOL AND SINKING FUNDS.

The condition of the Free School and Sinking Funds at
the close of the fiscal year 1893 is shown in detail in "State-
ment E."

The amount remaining to the credit of the Free School
Fund at the close of the fiscal year 1892. was 15,675.54. The
receipts during the last fiscal year on account of the same fund
were $75,121.36, making an aggregate of 180,796,90. The
disbursements from this fund for the same period amounted to
$75,253.90, leaving a balance to the credit of said fund, as of
September 3oth, 1893, 0115,543.00.

SINKING FUNDS.

Statement "E," also gives in detail the receipts, as well as
the investments on account of the Sinking Funds during the
fiscal year 1893, viz.: There was received on account of

General Sinking Fund.................................. $13,636.27

Balance September 30, 1892............................... 1,426.23 115,062.50

Sinking Fund for Defense Redemption Loan...... 373,156.10

Sinking Fund for Exchange Loan, 1889............. $19,971.02

Balance September 30, 1892.............................. 59.23 20,030.25

Total..................................................................... $408,248.85

There was invested during the fiscal year on account of
the several Sinking Funds the sum of 1408,248.85, and the
manner in which it was invested will also appear in State
ment "E."
