amounting in the aggregate to $124,746.62, at the close
of the fiscal year, some of which however have been
paid into the Treasury since the close of the fiscal year,
as noted in said table.
"Table No. 19" shows special appropriations made by
the Legislature paid during the fiscal year 1888.
"Table No. 20" shows in detail the disbursements
made during the fiscal year 1888, from the Contingent
Fund of the Comptroller, and "Table No. 21" shows in
detail the disbursements of the Contingent Fund of the
Treasury Department during the fiscal year 1888. The
statement of the rents of the State Tobacco Warehouse
Wharves, required by Joint Resolution No. 13 of 1886, is
appended, showing the indebtedness of the Warehouses
to the State to be $161,214.68 at the close of the fiscal
year.
"Appendix No. 2" contains a number of tables, show-
ing reports from various Officers, and other matters, fur-
nishing data for the arrival at correct ascertainments of
amounts in preceding statements.
I have thus gone over the various operations of the
Department during the fiscal year quite fully, without
much comment, further than calling your attention to
Important items in the tables, which fully explain
themselves.
In conclusion, I congratulate you on the excellent
condition of the finances of the State, her very high
credit, and the evidences of prosperity of the people, so
far as the same can be influenced by a judicious and
sound administration of the State government.
