Institutions, amounting in the aggregate to the sum of $95,776.72..

There is also quite a considerable sum still due on this account and

unpaid, upon which interest will be charged from January 1st, 1877.

STATE TOBACCO INSPECTIONS.

The receipts and expenditures on account of the State Tobacco-
Inspections, as returned to this office by the several Inspectors,,
under the certificate of the Supervisor, are exhibited in full in Table
No. 8.

The gross receipts at the several Warehouses during the fiscal
year, were $139,354.38.

The expenditures during the year, exclusive of the salaries of the
Inspectors and Supervisor, were $118,787.81, leaiving a balance of
$20,566.57, which, added to the amount due from Inspectors, 30th
September, 1875, and paid during the last fiscal year, viz: $2,053.70,
makes the total balance $22,620.27.

The salaries of the Inspectors and Supervisor for the year were
$15,000.00, leaving the net amount of receipts over all expendi-
tures for the year, $7,620.27

MISCELLANEOUS E.ECEIPTS.

Table No. 9 exhibits receipts into the Treasury from sundry
officers during the fiscal year, the total being $18,934.63.

Of this total, the Land Office paid $1,850.52; the State Hay-
Scales in Baltimore, $1,155.17.; State Live Stock Scales, $2,296.15;
State Wharfinger, $5,425 63;, and the Weighers of Grain, $8,707.16.

INTEREST ON ACCOUNTS.

Table No. 10 exhibits the amounts of interest paid on the accounts
of sundry officers tbefein named, aggregating the sum of $9,240.68

TAXES ON PROTESTS.

The revenue from taxes on protests during the fiscal year, paid
by the different Notaries Public, amounted to $8,019.00, and is,
detailed in Table No. 11.

FINES AND FORFEITURES.

The amounts of fines and forfeitures and interest thereon, paid
into the Treasury during the fiscal year, by the different Sheriffs,
mentioned in Table No. 12, was $6,782.83.

The receipts of fines and forfeitures have been materially lis-
sened, by the passage of sundry Acts of Assembly, diverting the
fines and forfeitures in different counties from the State Treasury
and appropriating them to county purposes, and, in the City of
Baltimore, authorizing the Sheriff to appropriate them to pay the
expenses of attendance on the various Courts.
