of $3,518.84, which added to the balance duo from Inspectors at the
end of the fiscal year 1874, and paid in the last fiscal year, makes
the total balance $8,901,00.

The salaries of the Inspectors and Supervisor for the year
amount to $15,000.

In January 1875, Tobacco Warehouses Nos. 1 and 2 were destroyed
by fire. The amount of loss as ascertained, has been paid by the In-
surance Companies issuing the policies, and amounted after the pay-
ment of expenses, to the sum of $59,535.00.
MISCELLANEOUS RECEIPTS.

Table No. 9 exhibits receipts from sundry officers during the
fiscal year, amounting in the aggregate to $15,506.02. Of this, the
sum of $5,131.26 was from the State Wharfinger in the City of Balti-
more, $1,168,56 from the Land Office, $7,792.05 from grain weigh-
ing, and the balance from the Weighers of Hay and Straw, at the
different State scales in the City of Baltimore. No payment has
been made during the fiscal year by the Weigher of Live Stock,
and the State's Attorney in Baltimore City has been instructed to
bring suit for the revenues from this source.

INTEREST ON ACCOUNTS.

Table No. 10 exhibits in detail the amount of interest received
from Collectors and Sheriffs during the fiscal year, amounting in the
whole to the sum of $8,726.51.

TAXES ON PROTESTS.

The revenue received during the fiscal year, from the different
Notaries Public, from taxes on protests, is given in detail in Table
No. 11, the aggregate being $5,974 00.

FINES AND FORFEITURES.

The amount of fines end forfeitures and interest thereon paid
into the Treasury during tl;c fiscal year, by the different Sheriffs,
mentioned in Table 12, was $8,636.13.

FOREIGN INSURANCE COMPANIES.

The revenue derived from licenses to agents of Foreign Insurance
Companies during the fiscal year, is exhibited in detail in Table
No. 13, amounting to $72,042.15.

I herewith transmit to your Honorable Bodies, a copy of the
Annual Report of the Insurance Commissioner, exhibiting in detail
the affairs of the different Insurances Companies, Foreign and
Domestic, doing business in this State.
