xiv REPORT OF THE

PUBLIC SCHOOL TAX.

Statement "L," shows the levy, receipts and disbursements of
the Public School Tax from 1865 to the end of the past fiscal year.
The receipts or. this account during the fiscal year have been $604,-
713.08, being very largely in advance of those in any former year:
The first distribution of the receipts of the year 1875 was made in
October, 1875, since the close of the fiscal year, amounting to $128,-
326.01. The disbursements during the last year have bean to
White schools and the State formal School $413,563.96, and to
Colored schools $100,553.30. There has also heeu paid out of the
Treasury to the State Colored Normal School the sum of $2,000.00.
STATE BOUNTIES.

Statement "M," exhibits in detail, the amounts paid for State
bounties from 1864 to the end of the fiscal year 1875 and the Acts
of Assembly under which the same were paid, amounting in the
aggregate, including salaries and expenses, to the sum of $5,826,-
387.44. The amount paid under this head, during; the fiscal year
1875 was $11,750.00.

PENSIONS.

The amount expended during the fiscal year, in the payment of
pensions was $40,320.00, being less than the sum expended in 1874
by the sum of $4,540.00.

DETAILS OF REVENUE.

The various receipts into the Treasury, during the fiscal year, are
given in detail in the accompanying tables.

FROM CLERKS OF COURTS.

Table No. 1 shows the revenues received from Clerks of Courts,
amounting to the sum of $400,066.91, being less than the revenue
received from Clerks of Courts in 1874, by the sum of $8,031.64.
The decrease of revenue under this head, for the last two years is
consequent on the restriction of licenses to retail spirituous liquors
under the operation of the Acts passed at the session of 1874. The
other items contained in Table No. 1, make the aggregate revenue-
from all the sources detailed in said table, to be $451,268.96.
FROM REGISTERS OF WILLS.

The receipts from Registers of Wills, as appears by Table No
2, amounted in the fiscal year to $133,428.01.
PROM COLLECTORS.

Table No. 3 shows the amount paid into the Treasury by Collec-
tors for Direct, Bounty, Southern Relief, Deaf and Dumb, Hospital
