STATE LEVY.

Statement "K" shows the State Levy, for all purposes, for the
year 1872, to be $713,106.21. By the repeal of the Direct Tax by
the last Legislature, the State Levy is reduced by the sum of $125,-
969.92, which is^thus left in the pockets of the people.

PUBLIC SCHOOL TAX.

Statement "L" shows the levy, receipts and disbursements oa
account of the Public School Tax, authorized by the Acts of 1865,
chap. 160, 1868, cbap. 407, 1870, chap. 311, and 1872, chap. 377.
The receipts for the year ending 30th September, 1872, on this ac-
count, were $459,645.04, being larger than those of the fiscal year
1871, by the sum of $49,579.40.

BOUNTIES.

Statement "M" exhibits the amounts paid for State Bounties, from
1864 to the present time, and the sources from which the moneys
were derived to make said payments.

PENSIONS.

The amount expended during the fiscal year, under this head, was
$57,123.20, being less than the expenditure on same account during
the fiscal year 1871, by the sum of $10,056.80.

The total receipts into the Treasury during the fiscal year, are
exhibited in detail in the various tables appended to this report,
from No: 1 to 13, inclusive.

Tbe receipts from clerks of courts and other officers for licenses
and other items, in Table No. 1, amounted to $475,544.20, being
less than the receipts from the same sources during the fiscal year
1871, by the sum of $9,323.38. This diminution, is owing entirely
