myself for the present with the publication of the list o1
names, as per Table No. 21. It will be my duty within
the present year to make these settlements in every case,
The arrearages from this source, it is supposed, will not
vary much from one hundred thousand dollars.

It will be seen by reference to the Tables that the arrear-
ages due to the State by various accountants, including
interest due from Collectors, exceed the sum of eleven
hundred thousand dollars, to be reduced by insolvents of
various kinds, to the extent of one hundred and fifty, or
perhaps two hundred thousand dollars.

By Resolution No. 20, of 1862, the Comptroller was
directed to bring suit upon the Bonds of all persons in-
debted to the State, within thirty days after the passage of
the Resolution. In compliance with the Resolution a
large number of accounts have been placed in the hands of
State's Attorneys, and are in process of collection, as
directed by the Legislature.

The different branches of the revenue, will be found in
the Appendix, under the appropriate heads, and need not
further be referred to.

During the past year a much better system of account-
ing has been obtained from various officers of the State;
and an accountability much more closely in accordance
with the requirements of the laws has been reached.
During the present year, it is anticipated that further
improvement will be made in this respect.
