NORTHERN CENTRAL RAILWAY COMPANY.
Since the last annual Report of the Comptroller, the York and Maryland
Line Rail Road Company and the Susquehanna Rail Road Company, in
Pennsylvania, and the Baltimore and Susquehanna Rail Road Company
have been consolidated, and now constitute one Company under the name
of the Northern Central Railway Company.
In pursuance of the authority granted it by chapter 260 of 1854, that
Company has mortgaged its entire Railway from Baltimore to Sunbury,
with the tolls, &c., to the State of Maryland, to secure the annual pay-
ment of $90,000, subject to extinguishment upon payment of the principal
and the Treasurer has assigned to it all the State's interest in the Baltimore
and Susquehanna Rail Road Company. The Northern Central Railway
Company has paid punctually the quarterly installments assumed under the
Kid Mortgage, and the State will, in all probability, now realise, as a cer-
tain source of income, the annual payment of $90,000.
