An act to regulate Constables fees, in Allegany county.

WHEREAS, some sections of the County are very

remote from the jail, thereby subjecting the constables

 

to a great inconvenience, and the compensation not ad-

 

equate to the labor performed in the delivery over to

 

the jailor of persons committed, — Therefore:

 

SECTION. 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of

Maryland, That from and after the passage of this act

 

all constables in Allegany county shall be entitled to

 

receive, in addition to the fifty cents now allowed, six

 

and a quarter cents per mile for every mile they have

 

to travel, after the first four miles, in delivering over

 

to the jailor of Allegany county, any person on com-

 

mitment.

 

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That whenever any con-

ment, he shall he required to summon a constable, if

 

there be one convenient, and whenever a constable or

 

any other person shall be summoned for the purpose of

 

so aiding and assisting, he shall be entitled to fifty

 

cents as a compensation for his services, and six and a

 

fourth cents per mile for every mile he may travel,

 

after the first four miles, to be taxed in the costs against

 

the defendant.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,

That the act to which this is a supplement shall be

 

construed to extend to all cases now, or which may he

 

hereafter pending in Anne Arundel county court, re-
