Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland, That

CHAP. 350.

the treasurer of the western shore, be and he is hereby au-

 

thorised and required to pay the several persons, their exe-

 

cutors, administrators, assigns or orders, or to such of them

allowed to them respectively, as they appear to be settled

money now in the treasury, subject to appropriation of the

CHAPTER 330

 

A supplement to the act, entitled, An act to promote Internal

Passed Mar.14,1832

Improvement, by the construction of a Rail Road from Bal-

 

timore to the City of Washington.

 

WHEREAS, the Baltimore and Ohio Rail Road Company,

Preamble.

in pursuance of the authority vested in them by the act to

 

which this is a supplement, have caused reconnoissances

 

and preliminary surveys and estimates to be made, with a

 

view to the location and construction of the rail road men-

 

tioned in the said act, and leported the result of such esti-

 

mates to the General Assembly; and have prayed the aid of

 

the Legislature, that they may be enabled to obtain the funds

 

necessary for the construction of the said rail road; And

 

whereas, a number of the citizens of Anne Arundel and Prince

 

George's counties, by their memorials to this assembly, have

 

prayed for the grant of legislative aid to construct the said

 

rail road, and as the early construction of the said road will

 

be a great public convenience, and highly beneficial to this

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Ma-

open a book for the purpose of receiving subscriptions for

 

so many additional shares of the capital stock of the said

 

company, as they, or a majority of them, shall deem advis-

 

able, to be applied to the construction of the rail road from

 

the city of Baltimore to the city of Washington, as author-

 

ized by this act, and the act to which this is supplement;

 

and the said subscription book shall be opened at such time,

share, at the time of subscribing, as the said president and
