CHAP. 207.

and acknowledged, and duly recorded in manner aforesaid,
would be evidence of such conveyance.

Identity of grant
to be certified.
|
Sec. 4. And be it enacted, That in all cases of acknowl-
edgement of deeds or conveyances or writings obligatory,
or contracts of, or relating to lands, tenements, or heredita-
ments, or any right, interest, estate, or use, therein or there-
of, the justices, or other officers, or courts, or tribunals,
taking such acknowledgement, shall, of their own knowl-
edge, or by oral testimony, under oath, received by them,
be satisfied with the persons acknowledging as aforesaid,
are the persons who are named and described as, and pro-
fessing to be parties in said deeds, conveyances, writings,
or contracts; and from and after the first day of September
next, it shall be the duty of the takers aforesaid of said ac-
knowledgements, to certify in their certificates of such ac-
knowledgements, the fact of their being so satisfied.

CHAPTER 206.

|
A supplement to an act, entitled, An act to establish a Bank
and incorporate a Company under the name of The
Washington County Bank, at the town of Williamsport,
in Washington county.
|
Clause repealed.
|
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland, That
so much of the eighteenth section of the act, to which this
is a supplement, as requires that the turnpike road therein
mentioned, shall begin at the east end of Saulsberry street,
in the town of Williamsport, and run thence in the most
direct and practicable route to intersect Jonathan street, in
Hagerstown, at or near the Marsh Run, be and the same is
hereby repealed; and it is hereby directed and enacted that

the said turnpike road shall be commenced at the eastern
limits of the town of Williamsport aforesaid, and shall be
continued thence in the shortest and best route to the town
of Hagerstown.
