CHAP. 189.

Expense of the
addition.

Sec. 18. And be it enacted, That the said commissioners,
or a majority of them, shall have full power and authority
to impose and levy on the property directed to be assessed
and valued as aforesaid, by fair and equal proportions, a
sum of money sufficient to defray the expenses of surveying
the additional twenty-five acres of land, and for recording
the certificate thereof.

General issue.

Sec. 19. And be it enacted, That if any suit or action
shall be commenced against any person or persons for any
thing done in pursuance of this act, such person or persons
may plead the general issue, and give this act in evidence,
any law usage or custom to the contrary notwithstanding.

Purchase of en-
gine ratified.

Sec. 20. And be it enacted, That the purchase hereto-
fore made by the commissioners of the village of Denton,
of a fire engine, be, and the same is hereby confirmed and
declared valid, and the said commissioners and their suc-
cessors, are hereby invested with full power and authority,
to apply any money which they may have in the hands of
the treasurer unappropriated, for the payment of said en-
gine, and also to assess and levy a sum of money on the

Proviso

real and personal property within the said village, to supply
any deficiency which may occur in the payment of the
same; Provided, That such levy shall not in any one year,
exceed the sum of thirty-three and a third cents, in every
hundred dollars.

Repealing clause

Sec. 21. And be it enacted, That all and every part of
any act of assembly heretofore passed for the improvement
and regulation of the village of Denton, as is contrary to
or inconsistent with the provisions of this act, be, and the
same are hereby repealed.

 

CHAPTER 139.

Passed Feb 27, 1832

An act to Incorporate the Town of Boonsborough, Slifer's
Addition, Holler's Addition, and Allabaugh's Addition,
to Boonsborough, in Washington county.

Incorporation
granted.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Ma-
ryland, That the citizens of the town of Boonsborough,
Slifer's Addition, Holler's Addition, and Allabaugh's Addi-
tion to Boonsborugh, in Washington county, shall be and
they are hereby constituted and made a body corporate by
the name of the burgess and commissioners of Boonsbor-
ough, with all the privileges of a body corporate, and to
have a common seal and perpetual succession.
