The Senate bill entitled an Act to secure a survey to ascer-
tain the best route for a Ship Canal, to connect the Chesa-
peake and Delaware Bays,

Was read the third time and rejected for want of a consti-
tutional majority, by yeas and nays as follows :

The House bill entitled an Act to amend section 8 of Arti-
cle IV. of the Constitution of the State of Maryland,

Being on second reading,

Mr. Claggett submitted the following amendments:

Line 5, section 8, after the word "indictment," insert "for
offences."

Line 7- section 8, after the word "writing," insert "under
oath."

Section 8, line 20, after the word "three," add the words,
''or that there is reasonable ground for the same."

Which were adopted.
