Mr. Stevens moved to reconsider the vote by which the bill
failed for want of a constitutional majority.

order of the day for Tuesday, March 31st, at 12 o'clock.

The Senate bill entitled an Act to secure a survey to ascer-
tain the best route for a Ship Canal to connect the waters of
the Chesapeake and Delaware Bays,

Being on third reading,

Mr. Earle submitted the following amendments:

Sec. 2, line 7, amend by striking out the word "twenty,"
and insert in lieu thereof the word "ten."

Sec. 7, line 1, strike out "twenty," and insert "ten."

Which were adopted.

Said bill was then read the second time, as amended, and
