The question recurring upon the amendment submitted by
Mr. Stevens.

It was determined in the affirmative by yeas and nays as
follows:

Mr. Davis submitted the following amendment:
Add the following section, to be known as section 2,

"That the sum of thirty thousand dollars be and the same
is hereby appropriated for the Faculty of Law of the Univer-
sity of Maryland, to be applied to educating and graduating
one student from each county, and one from each Legislative
District of the city of Baltimore, free of charge ; said student
to be admitted upon the written recommendation of the Sen-
ator representing said Legislative District, or county.
