The House bill relating to the Gunpowder River.

Mr. Davis moved as an amendment to the amendment,
that the Senate proceed to the regular order of the day.

Which was rejected.

The vote recurring upon Mr. Stevens' motion,
It was adopted by yeas and nays as follows:

Mr. McCulloh, from a Select Committee, reported favora-
bly

The Senate bill entitled an Act authorizing and directing
the County Commissioners of Allegany county, to take pos-
session of the old county road, called the Cumberland and
Somerset road, running from the National road near the nar-
rows, and thence via Wills' Creek, Jennens' Run, thence to
the Pennsylvania line, near to Wellersburg, Pennsylvania.

Which was read the first time.

The House bill entitled an Act to authorize the Mayor
and City Council of Baltimore, to issue bonds to an amount
not exceeding the sum of four million dollars to provide
means for introducing the waters of the Gunpowder River,

Being on its third reading, Mr. Davis submitted the fol-
lowing amendment:

AMENDMENT PROPOSED.
At the end of section 1, add the following :

"And the said Mayor and City Council are hereby au-
thorized and required to supply the citizens of Baltimore
county who may live adjacent to their mains and conduits
with water of the same conditions and rates that water is
supplied to the residents of Baltimore city ; and the said
Mayor and City Council, are hereby authorized and required
to assess rates for the supply of water at any point in Balti-
more city and county, and to assess a water-tax on houses
