CHAPTER 397.

AN ACT authorizing the County Commissioners of
|
 
|
Washington county to purchase certain parcels of
|
 
|
ground lying contiguous to the court-house in said
|
 
|
county, for the use of the said court-house.
|
 
|
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
|
 
|
Maryland, That the County Commissioners of Wash-
|
 
|
ington county, be and they are hereby authorized
|
 
|
and empowered, in their discretion, to purchase for
|

parcels of ground on which the same are situated,
|
 
|
lying contiguous to the court-house in said county,
|
 
|
bounded on the west by Johnathan street, Hagers-
|
 
|
town ; on the south by an alley extending east from

|
Johnathan street, to an alley extending north to
|
 
|
west Washington street, and on the east by the alley
|
 
|
last aforesaid ; and the County Commissioners of
|
 
|
said county are further authorized to remove the

buildings on said grounds, and to have and to hold

the grounds so purchased for the use of the said court-
|
 
|
house, and as part and parcel of the court-house
|
 
|
property ; and they are also authorized to enclose
|
 
|
and ornament, and improve the same, and generally

to do all things in their judgment necessary and
|
 
|
proper to be done, to adapt the grounds to the use
|
 
|
for which it may be purchased and set apart.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That the County Com-
|
 
|
missioners of Washington county, be and they are
|
 
|
hereby authorized tolevy upon the assessable property
|
 
|
of said county, such sum or sums of money as may
be necessary to pay for said grounds, and for en-

effect the object of this act.
