ceedings in such suitor action, issue, presentment or

 

indictment may be so transmitted, shall hear and de-

 

termine the same in like manner as if such suit or

 

action, issue, presentment or indictment had been

 

originally instituted therein ; and the General Assem-

 

bly shall make such modification of existing law as

 

may be necessaryto regulate and give force to this pro-

 

vision.

 

SEC. 2. And be it farther enacted by the authority

 

aforesaid, That the said foregoing section, hereby

State, submitted to the legal and qualified voters

 

thereof for their adoption or rejection, in pursuance

AN ACT to incorporate the Maryland Canal Com-

 

pany.

 

WHEREAS, The State of Maryland in giving her

Canal Company, expressly reserved the right of the

 

State to charter and construct a lateral canal to con-

 

nect with the Chesapeake and Ohio Canal, at some

 

point within the District of Columbia, which reserva-

 

tion was assented to by the Congress of the United
