and such criminal process as may issue under the
|
 
|
authority of this State, against any person or persons
|
 
|
charged with crimes committed without said lands
|
 
|
and ceded territory, may be executed therein, in the
|
 
|
same way and manner as though this cession and
|
 
|
consent had never been made and granted, except
|
 
|
so far as such process may effect the real and per-
|
 
|
sonal property of the United States within the said
|
 
|
ceded territory.

Exonerated
|
SEC. 2. Be, it enacted, That the said lands over
|
and discharged
from all taxes
|
which the jurisdiction is granted by this act, together
|
 
|
with all personal property which may thereafter be
|
 
|
within the bounds thereof, belonging to the United
|
 
|
States, or to any of the officers or agents of the
|
 
|
United States, shall be exonerated and discharged
|
 
|
from all taxes and assessments which may be at any
|
 
|
time imposed by the authority of this State, when
|
 
|
and so long as the said lands or portion thereof
|
 
|
respectively, are and shall remain the property of the
|
 
|
United States, and be used for the purpose aforesaid.

SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That this act shall take
|
 
|
effect from the date of its passage.

AN ACT for the relief of Briscoe Adams, one of the
|
 
|
sureties on the official bond of Robert J. Bean,
|
 
|
former Collector of State taxes for St. Mary's
|
 
|
county.

Released
|
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
|
 
|
Maryland, That Briscoe Adams, one of the sureties
|
 
|
on the official bond of Robert J. Bean, Collector of
|
 
|
Taxes for St. Mary's county, be and he is hereby
|
 
|
released from all responsibility to the State on ac-
|
 
|
count of said bond; provided, however, that the
|
 
|
principal and other sureties on said .bond and their
|
 
|
property shall in no manner be released therefrom.
|
