The Hon. C. J. Pennington, Secretary of State, appeared
and delivered the following- communication from his Excel-
lency, the G overnor:
EXECUTIVE DEPARTMENT,
Annapolis, February 13th, 1874.
To the Senate:
I have the honor to inform you that I have approved and
signed the following Senate bills :
No. 6. A bill entitled an Act to give and declare the sanc-
tion and consent of the General Assembly of Maryland to
the bequest of five hundred dollars, contained in the last will
and testament of Henry Rohr, late of Frederick county, Mary-
land, deceased, to the Evangelical Lutheran Congregation at
Mount Zion, in Frederick county, State of Maryland.
No. 7. A bill entitled an Act to confirm and approve an
Act of the General Assembly of Maryland, passed at January
Session, eighteen hundred and seventy-two, chapter four, en-
titled an Act authorizing the County Commissioners of Fred-
erick county to subscribe to the capital stock of the Liberty
and Frederick Turnpike Road Company of Frederick county.
No. 8. A bill entitled an Act, to authorize the Mayor and
Council of Hagerstown to borrow the sum of five thousand
dollars to pay a judgment of Nathaniel Lehner and a judg-
ment of J. G. Gruber, recovered against them; to issue
bonds for the payment of the same, and to levy taxes on the
assessable property of Hagerstown to redeem said bonds and
to pay the interest thereon.
No. 9. A bill entitled an Act to repeal sections one hundred
and five and one hundred and six of Article twenty-six, of
the Code of Public General Laws, title "Corporations," sub-
title "Insurance Companies." and to re-enact the same with
amendments,
No. 30. A bill entitled au Act to amend the Act of the
General Assembly of eighteen hundred and seventy-two,
chapter one hundred and ninety-six, entitled an Act to author-
ize the Comptroller of the Treasury to adjust and settle the
accounts due by Collectors, Sheriffs, Clerks, Registers and
other receivers of public monies, in cases where the indebted-
ness accrued prior to and including the year eighteen hun-
dred and sixty-nine, by repealing section one of said Act and
re-enacting the same with amendments.
No. 31. A bill entitled an Act to authorize Henry C. Lay,
Bishop of the Diocese of Easton, as such in the Protestant
Episcopal Church in the United States of America, his suc-
cessors in office, and his or their assigns, to hold a lot or par-
