Was read the second time and ordered to be engrossed for
a third reading.

The Senate bill entitled "An Act granting assent of the
General Assembly of Maryland, to a bequest contained in the
last will and testament of Amelia Mathews, (colored,) late
of the city of Baltimore, deceased, to the Rev. Mr. Miller, the
Priest in charge of St. Frances Xavier Colored Roman Cath-
olic Church, located in Calvert street, near Pleasant street,
in the city of Baltimore, or to his successor, for the use and
benefit of said Church,"

Was read the second time and ordered to be engrossed for
a third reading.

The Senate bill entitled "An Act to incorporate the town
of Sharpstown, Wicomico county,"

Was read the second time and ordered to be engrossed for
a third reading.

The Senate bill entitled "Au Act to authorize the Johns
Hopkins Hospital to purchase and hold tracts of land in Bal-
timore county and to erect buildings thereon,"

Was read the second time and ordered to be engrossed for
a third reading.

The Senate bill entitled "An Act to add an additional sec-
tion to Article IV. of the Code of Public Local Laws, title
'City of Baltimore,' entitled 'Police,' and to section 830 of said
Article."

Was read the second time and ordered to be engrossed for a
third reading.

Mr. Fields moved a call of the Senate when the following
Senators responded:

Messrs. President, Brewer, Earle, Fields, Getty, Longwell,
Lloyd, McCulloh, Phelps, Stevens, Spencer, Tuck, Walsh-—
13.

The Sergeant-at-Arms was sent to notify absent Senators
that their presence was desired in the Senate Chamber.

On motion by Mr. Phelps,
Further proceedings under the call were suspended.

Mr. Phelps moved to adjourn.

Mr. Fields demanding the yeas and nays,

The motion to adjourn was determined in the negative by
yeas and nays as follows:
