1430 JOURNAL OF PROCEEDINGS [Apl. 4,

Mr. Watlkins, Chairman of the Committee on Ways and
Means, reported unfavorably upon,

The Senate bill entitled an Act to pay to Thomas Dent,
Justice of the Peace for St. Mary's county, and also James
H. Saunders, a Constable of said county, for services ren-
dered to Captain Timmons in the execution of the oyster
laws of the State.

The unfavorable report was adopted.
On motion of Mr. Bond,

The vote by which the unfavorable report of the Commit-
tee was adopted,

Was reconsidered and the bill substituted for the unfavor-
able report of the Committee.

Said bill was then read a second time.
The Secretary of the Senate returned

The bill entitled an Act to repeal Article 81, of the Code
of Public General Laws of the State of Maryland, entitled
"Revenue and Taxes," and to re-enact the same with amend-
ments,

Endorsed, "Passed by yeas and Days, with proposed amend-
ments:''

AMENDMENTS PROPOSED.

Section 3, line 8, strike out "Land or Loan Companies or
Corporations.''
Section 21, line 7, strike out "ten," and insert "twelve."

Section 141, after the word "office," in line 3, strike out
all to end of the section, and add the same to the end of
section 42.

Strike out "one," in section 114, line 3, and insert "two."

Section 113, line 10, after the word "of," strike out
"one," and insert "two."

Section 35, line 5, after the word "judgment," add, "and
that I will not, either directly or indirectly, make any profit
of the money collected by me by the use thereof in any man-
ner whatever."

Section 72, line 6, after the word "bond," insert "accom-
panying the same by a substantial statement of the amount
demanded."

Section 2, line 3, insert "if registered in a port of Mary-
land," after the word "vessels."

The proposed amendments were severally read and adopted,

And the bill, as amended, was passed by yeas and nays, as
follows :
