Postponed until 12 o'clock to-morrow.

Senate Joint Resolutions authorizing the Comptroller to
employ Counsel in the case of the State vs. the Pennsyl-
vainia and Cumberland Rail Road Company,

Being on third reading.

(Unanimous consent being given,)

Mr. Earle submitted the following amendment:

AMENDMENT PROPOSED.

Amend line 12 by striking out the word "eleven'' and insert
the word "eighteen."

Which was adopted.

Said Resolutions as amended, were read the third time and
failed to pass for want of a Constitutional majority by yeas
and nays as follows :

AFFIRMATIVE.

Messrs. President, Knight,
Aydelotte, Longwell,
Blake, Lloyd,
Claggett, Mudd,
Davis, Spencer,
Earle, Walsh—13.
Fields,

NEGATIVE.

Messrs. Brewer, McCulloh,
Getty, Steiner—4.

Mr. Fields moved to reconsider the vote by which the said
Resolutions failed to pass.

Which was adopted.

On motion by Mr. Fields,

Said Resolutions were postponed until to-morrow, and made
the order of the day for 12 o'clock.

Mr. Earle moved to reconsider the votes by which the
Resolutions were postponed until to-morrow.

Which was adopted.

The Resolutions were then read the third time and passed
by yeas and nays as follows :
