Lishears, contractors for building the new almshouse in said
county, the sum of two thousand dollars, and to repeal so
much of the Act of the General Assembly of Maryland, passed
January session, 1872, chapter 368, as may be inconsistent
with the provisions of this Act, was recommitted to the Bal-
timore county delegation.

Mr. Wack, Chairman of a Select Committee, reported
without amendments,

The Senate bill entitled an Act to authorize the Mayor and
Councilmen of Frostburg to construct water-works for, and
to lay water mains throughout said town ; to buy the neces-
sary appurtenances for the protection of property, and to
issue bonds for that urpose.

Which was read a second time.

Mr. Seth, Chairman of a Select Committee, reported

The bill entitled an Act to compensate Josiah Stack, of Tal-
bot county, for services rendered in making the arrest of Levin
Palmer, an escaped prisoner and desperado, with proposed
amendments.

AMENDMENTS PROPOSEED.

In line 7, after the words " provided, that two hundred
dollars of said amount shall be paid to the said Josiah Stack,
and one hundred to the said William H. Burrows."

SECTION 2. And be it enacted, That this Act shall take
effect from the date of its passage.

The amendments were adopted, and the bill, as amended,
read a second time and ordered to be engrossed for a third
reading.

The Secretary of the Senate delivered the following mes-
sage:

BY THE SENATE,

March 4th, 1874.
Gentlemen of the House of Delegates:

We have received your message in relation to the "Police
Bill," asking a Committee of Conference in relation thereto.

We have appointed on the part of the Senate, Messrs.
Stevens and Blake, in compliance with your message.
