A bill entitled an Act to prevent the hunting of, catching,
trapping, capturing, taking, killing or destroying in any
manner, terrapins or terrapin eggs, in Somerset county,
during the months of May, June, July and August.

Mr. Duer, Chairman of a Select Committee, reported favor-
ably,
A bill entitled au Act to protect partridges in Somerset
county.
Which was read a first time.
Mr. Keech, Chairman of a Select Committee, to whom was
referred the bill entitled au Act to repeal section 193, of
Article 3, of the Code of Public Local Laws of Baltimore
county, sub-title "Sheriffs," passed at the January session
of the Legislature, in the year 1872, and to re-enact the same
with amendments, reported the same with proposed amend-
ments.
AMENDMENTS PROPOSED.
Amend title of bill by adding the words "chapter fifty-
nine" after the words " and seventy-two," in the fourth line
of the title of said bill.
Amend body of bill by inserting after the words "shall
be," in the seventh line, the following : " Allowed two dollars
and fifty cents a day for each day he shall attend the Circuit
Court for said county, in person or by deputy, when said
Court is actually in session and shall be."
Amend body of bill by str king out the word "section,"
in the tenth line thereof, and inserting in lieu thereof the
word "Act."
Amend body of bill by striking out all of said bill after
the words " and be it further enacted, that," in the thirteenth
line, and inserting in lieu thereof the following: "The
County Commissioners of said county may in the exercise of
a careful, wise and sound discretioa and of a scrutinizing
judgment on their part, allow the Sheriff of said county such
further compensation for serving bench-warrants and attach-
ments, and performing extra duty, as may seem, to them
right and proper, and a fair and reasonable compensation for
such services; Provided, however, That before said County
