TUESDAY, February 3rd, 1874.

The Senate met at 11, A. M.
Prayer by Rev. Mr. Hedges.

The following Senators answered at roll call:

Messrs. President, Blake, Billingsley, Brattan, Crawford,
Claggett, Denson, Fields, Getty, Knight, Longwell, Lloyd,
McCulloh, Stevens, Steiner, Spencer, Suit, Walsh—18.

The proceedings of yesterday were read and approved.

The President announced the following message from the
House of Delegates.

By THE HOUSE OF DELEGATES,

February 2nd, 1874.
Gentlemen of the Senate ;

We propose with your concurrence, the appointment of a
Select Committee of three on the part of the House and two
on. the part of the Senate, to communicate with the Governor
of Virginia, on the subject of the Potomac Fisheries, relative
to the fact that neither the Act of 1860, Article XLI., nor
the Act of 1870, chapter 205, relating to the Potomac Shad
and Herring Fisheries, is of any force or effect, by reason of
non-concurrence of the authorities of Virginia and the said
Committee to report the result to this Legislature at the
earliest practicable day, and we name on the part of this
House Messrs. Johnson, Stewart, of Baltimore city, and
Bond.

Also,

The House bill entitled "An Act to authorize and empower
the County Commissioners of Washington county to subscribe
to the capital stock of turnpike companies in said county.''

Which was read the first time and referred to Messrs.

The House bill entitled "An Act to provide for the better
protection of Partridges in Washington county."
